Trumbull County Sportsmen’s Federation 60 Gun Raffle will be held at Yankee Lake on May 4th.  The tickets are available for sale now.  For each Federation ticket you sell you earn one hour credit.  Contact Dave or his wife, Cathy, to make arrangements to get your tickets.

Due to lack of reservations, this trip has been cancelled.  Contact Dave or Kathy to give information for refunding your money.
 
Hunter Safety – George Marsh (330) 539 4171
A Hunter Safety course will be given March 8, 6-10 PM and March 10, 8AM – 3PM.  You must attend both sessions.  You must go to the ODNR website to register online.  The class is limited to the first 50 registrants.
 
Federation’s Farmers’ Dinner – Shirley Williams 330 534 2929
Farmers’ Dinner will be held March 23, 2013.  Help will be needed at 8 AM to clean the clubhouse and set up for the dinner.  We should be done about 1PM.  Help will be needed in the evening too.  Call 330 448 4616 if you can help.
 
Work Parties – April 6, 2013 – 9AM

NRA CCW Course - Mark Baranski 330 856 9078
The next scheduled course will be 3 consecutive Mondays: April 8th, 15th and 22nd, 2013 from 6PM to 10PM. The course will emphasize safe and proper handling and use of pistols. This course meets and exceeds the training requirements for the Ohio CCW license. NRA Certified Instructors.  The cost is $45 per person. Students must bring their own pistol, 100 rounds of ammo, eye and ear protection, and must be at least 21 years of age and able to lawfully own a firearm. Classes fill up fast, so call Mark early to register.
 
CCW Course – Gabe Illes (330) 889 2572
The course will be given April 19, 5:45 – 10 PM, and 20, 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM.  Cost is $50.  Contact Gabe for more information and to pre-register.
 
Rifle Coach School – Russ Evans (330) 534 5344
This course will be given April 27 and 28, 8 AM to 6 PM.  Call Russ for details.
 
Indoor Pistol – George Palo (330) 856 9949
Indoor Pistol is in full swing on Thursdays beginning at 4PM until 10PM.  This is open to the public at $5.  Members shoot free.  No magnum or carbines.  (Velocity of bullet is too damaging to backstop.)  Help is needed.
 
Trap - Jim Schill (330) 637 9912
Trap is open every Wednesday and Sunday beginning at 11 AM.  Cost is $3 per round.  Bring your own shells.  We need help loading the trap houses plus help in other areas.  If you can work, please call Jim Schill (330) 637 9912 or just show up at the range on a Sunday or Wednesday.  Some of the trap houses need some work.  If you are able to give Jim a hand on repairing block walls, etc., call him to discuss details.
Women’s Fire Arms Class – Shirley Williams (330) 534 2929
The first class will be held May 14 to July 2 and the second class will be held July 16 through Sept. 3.  The reunion will be Sept. 21, 2013.  Both classes are filled.  If you would like to be on the waiting list in the event of cancellations call Kathy French (330) 448 4616.  Shirley is recuperating from her surgery at Park Vista.  If you care to send her a card the address is Park Vista South, RM 210, 1216 Fifth Ave, Youngstown, OH 44504

A graduate of Akron Univ., with degrees in History and Political Science Homeland Security and as a NRA Instructor, coach, CCW holder, Range Safety Officer, I would like to form a group who would be interested in developing a course designed to train school personnel in proper security procedures and use of weapons in the event of school invasions.  Part of the work would be presenting this course to school administrators and Boards for their consideration and approval.  All interested persons with military or law enforcement experience would be welcome.  Please contact Josh.

You can send one email message to all of them at the same time. Thanks, in part, to the NRA for the work done to defeat the UN International Gun Treaty.  The NRA works to preserve your gun rights and the club benefits from each membership it sells or renews.  Call Bill or see him at a meeting to become a member or renew your membership.

Membership renewal for 2013 will end at the March meeting.    Call me or e-mail me to verify your hours worked for the year.  You may pay your fees at the meeting or send your renewal fees to me at:  5636 King Graves Rd., Fowler, OH 44418.  Include a stamped, self-addressed envelope so I can return your 2013 membership card and key.

According to the club bi-laws Article VI, section 3: Each member is required to complete at least ten hours of work each year or be assessed a fee for each hour not completed.  Article VI, section 4:  Any member may renew a membership upon payment of the annual dues hereinafter designated if he or she were a paid member in good standing the previous year.  The member must have completed work hours or pay assessment.

CCW Class – Gabe Illes (330) 889-2572

Class will be April 13th from 7:30am and 4:30pm at the club.  Cost will be $50.00.  You must call before April 9th to reserve your place.  Help will also be needed to run this class.  Please call him if interested in helping.  Good way to get some work hours done.

There will be a work party held on Saturday April 20th starting at 9:00am.  They will work until everything is done.  Take gloves, boots, a shovel and rake please.  Please call Glen for more information.

 

Chicken on the Spit Dinner - Kathy Cheliras (330) 502-7343

Chicken dinner will be held April 27th.  Dinner is served at the club from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.  Take-out orders are available from 3:30 to 5:30pm. Tickets are $8.00 each or two for $15.00.  Lots of help will be needed for this event.  Please call Kathy to let her know you want to help.  Great dinner and a great way to get work hours in!

 

60 Gun Raffle Tickets – Kathy Cheliras (330) 502-7343

Tickets are available!  The event will be held May 4th at Yankee Lake Ballroom.  Tickets are due back by April 4th.  For every ticket you sell you get one work credit toward you work hours.  The club also gets $10.00 per ticket sold.  This is a major fundraiser for the year.  Call Kathy to get tickets or pick them up at the monthly club meeting.

This event will be held May 4th this year.  Shirley will need a lot of help all day for this event.  Great way to get some so you r work hours in.  Call Shirley to ask what she needs for this day.

Thursdays starting at 4:00pm (except meeting night).  Open to the public.  Members shoot free and non-members are $15.00.  Call George to ask about helping to get some work hours.

 

19th Annual NRA Concealed Carry Class – Mark Baranski (330) 856-9078

The 19th Annual NRA Concealed Carry course will be 2 consecutive Wednesdays, April 3rd and April 10th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.  This course meets and exceeds the requirements for the Ohio CCW license (“firearms safety course that was offered by or under the auspices of a national gun advocacy organization”).  NRA Certified Instructor: Mark Baranski; Range Officers: Jim Diciccio, Dave Brett, Gerry Angnardo, and Mike Weaver. The cost is $50 per person.   Students must bring their own good working condition pistol (.22 cal preferred), 100 rounds of ammo (no magnums please), eye and ear protection, and must be at least 21 years of age and able to lawfully own a firearm.  Classes fill up fast, so call Mark between 10am and 8pm daily, or email at markbaranski@aol.com to register.

Please keep me updated on all address, phone number, or email changes.  **Attention all Project/Activity chairpersons, please make sure to give me or email me any info needed to be put into the newsletter before each meeting if you want it in the newsletter.  I cannot attend the actual meeting so I don’t know what needs to be in each month.

**Do not send a text message** Trap is open to the public on Wednesdays and Sunday’s beginning at 11:00 AM.  Fee is $3.50 per round.  Help is needed to load the trap houses and score.  Good way to get work hours in. Make arrangements ahead of time with Darrell for the date and time you would like to help by contracting him for approval.

Join us on the 2nd and 4th Friday each month for the National A Girl And A Gun Club Women's Shooting League meetings. www.agirlandagunclub.com.  All experience levels are welcome from beginners to advanced! We meet at the clubhouse from 5:30 pm till 8:00pm and the cost is $10 for Vienna F&G club members and $15 for non-members. Contact Pam for more info!

Next class starts May 14th and runs until July 2nd.  The second class will start July 16th and runs until September 3RD.  Shirley will start taking signups January 1st.  Please call her if you or someone you know are interested in taking her class.  Slots are limited.  Also call before classes start if you are interested in helping for some work hours.  Instructor family day will be September 10th.

***Paper targets and authorized reactionary targets only are allowed on rifle range!!***

Also, no center fire rifle or shot gun on pistol range

Authorized reactionary targets for use on the rifle and pistol ranges are defined as a target made of steel or polymer/plastic material, not to exceed 3 feet in height and to remain stationary during use.  This does not include targets or other objects that move or change position when struck by gunfire,  examples being polymer/plastic/synthetic or metal type balls, cubes, stars, etc., gulf balls, plastic/glass jugs, and bottles of all types,  concrete blocks/bricks and any other object not authorized.  These restrictions are to insure that no errant shots escape the confines of the rifle and pistol ranges and to insure the safety of all on the club grounds and outlying areas.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Rentals are available on days there are no club activities planned.  Charge for members is $150 (Probationary Members is $250) plus $150 security deposit which is returned after event and it is determined facility is in good condition.  You have use of the kitchen, meeting room and indoor activity room.  No ranges, indoor or outdoor, are to be used.
